Don't be a hater.

So, NBC decided that Pink plays in Peoria. The new Sunday Night Football theme song is Pink's gridiron rendition of "I Hate Myself for Loving You" by Joan Jett, with the original [bad] lyrics swapped out for new [bad] football-related lyrics--the familiar chorus has been changed to "waiting all day for Sunday night." Here's what the suits at NBC had to say about it:

"We chose Pink as the signature voice because she is a tremendous talent with a crossover appeal that makes her relevant to all segments of our audience."

Okay. But what about the song choice? I wonder what other tunes they considered before settling on the Joan Jett number. Seems like they could have used Pink's own "Get the Party Started," although I'd bet her record label would have charged them a hundred times the royalties.

Whatever their reasoning was for performer and song choice, it's nice to finally get a break from Hank Williams, Jr's "Are You Ready for Some Football?" I don't have cable, so I'm not sure if they're still rollin' with Hank Deuce on ESPN's Monday Night Football. I assume Bocephus doesn't test well with the "18 to 24" demographic [or anyone with class for that matter]. If ESPN were to upgrade their intro, I suspect they would have P-Diddy or somesuch up in the hizzy.

Blogflix Update: We watched the first DVD of the Firefly series and like it a lot. We watched Serenity some months back without ever having watched a single Firefly episode, and we didn't feel like we were missing anything [AND we really enjoyed the movie]. The TV series appears to dip more into the Western genre than the movie let on. I can't wait to get the next disc in the mail.
